Questions with Do / Does / Did
For Present Simple and Past Simple, we make questions with Do / Does / Did.
RULE
Present Simple: Do / Does + subject + verb?
Past Simple: Did + subject + verb (base form)?
EXAMPLES
- Do you visit London often?
- Does the Underground run all night?
- Did you take a boat trip?

Questions with Be / Have
Present Continuous, Past Continuous, and Present Perfect make questions differently — the auxiliary (be / have) just moves before the subject.
RULE
Present Continuous: Is / Are + subject + verb-ing?
Past Continuous: Was / Were + subject + verb-ing?
Present Perfect: Have / Has + subject + past participle?
If the sentence already has be or have, just move it before the subject. Don't add do/does/did as well: 'Are you going?' NOT 'Do you are going?'
